This resource is designed to support schools with setting up their site to communicate with their parent community. As every LINC-ED school is in a different place in their journey, this guide outlines the steps to follow for setting up community notices, emailing of financial statements, sharing student learning and texting parents. It includes a flowchart with help sheet links at each step of the process.
Parent Accounts for email, finances and sharing learning
Parent accounts are key to the successful use of LINC-ED. They are the pathway to two-way communication between the school and the parent community. It is the tool to send community notices, email statements and give access to view student learning. The generation of parent accounts is an automated process based on the email addresses added for student contacts. The flowchart will guide you through this process.
Texts (SMS messaging)
LINC-ED provides the function for sending texts to parents. This can be used when there is an unexplained absence or in the event of an emergency. The flowchart on Page 4 will guide you through the process for setting up the text function within your LINC-ED site.
Understanding what parents see
The following training video has been created to help staff and parents understand what parents can see when they log into their LINC-ED parent account: Parent view
It is our goal to continually provide LINC-ED users with a positive experience so if you find our resources particularly helpful or have any suggestions for areas for improvement we ask you to let us know through the Help function on your site.
